Sabermetric Triple Crown for Pitchers
Chris Carpenter now leads the NL in ERA and is within range of the other two traditional pitching triple crown categories, strikeouts (9th) and wins (6th, tied). But those categories are so, well, yesterday. Let’s bring them into the 21st century and see how Carp fares in the Sabermetric Triple Crown for Pitchers: DIPS, K/9 and Expected Wins.

Carpenter’s hanging in there, though Jake Peavy and Roy Oswalt appear to be more likely candidates, if anyone is to win the NL triple crown in 2006.
The AL, however, is a different story. Johan Santana, who deserves a Roosevelt-like landslide in the Cy Young voting, has a legitimate shot at the crown.
