Play the Fungoes Playoff Fantasy Baseball Challenge!
So the season is over for most baseball teams, including your team. We’re not talking about the St. Louis Cardinals — we mean your fantasy-league team. Never fear: Fantasy baseball awaits you yet. That’s because we’re offering you a chance to keep competing by making a team in our Playoff Fantasy Baseball Challenge.
Our PFBC will be a bit different from fantasy leagues that you’re probably accustomed to:
- First, there’s no draft. Just pick eight position players and eight pitchers. Others may have the same players, but that’s okay.
- Second, you draft your team once and for all — after you’ve picked a squad, there’s no pickups or trades — so your strategy will include how many games each player will appear in: Do you pick a scrub on a team that’s likely to advance a couple of rounds, or a star on a team likely to be ousted early?
- Third, this is a points league, or, more specifically, a runs league. All players will accumulate points in the form of Runs Created: batters earn Runs Created (technical version) and pitchers earn Pitching Runs Created (PRC), one of David Gassko’s inventions that you may be familar with (Though the Hardball Times won’t be publishing PRCs for the playoffs, David was kind enough to set us up with his tool for generating the numbers.). The winner is the team with the most total runs created.
We’ll accept all teams entered by Wednesday, 2pm Central. The winner gets to write a guest post on the topic of his choosing (some deal, eh?), so register your team now!

Pip
I tried to pick 8 pitchers, but fear I picked only one, because I couldn’t master highlighting more than one at a time…..I am sweep-the-leg

Coop:
Ah, sorry — I should’ve explained it better. To select multiple pitchers, hold down the CTRL key and click the names. Let me know if you have any problems; otherwise, I’ll allow another entry from you.
