"Time for presents, Christmas trees and lights, and…oh yeah…Jesus Christ. The birth of our Lord is no small thing. Although it may not have been Dec 25th, that’s a whole different story, Christmas whether celebrated in Dec or April is all about Jesus. Or should be. It is here to celebrate the birth of our lord Jesus Christ … Our God, sent His son to DIE for us…. that is love!" –12/20 on his blog |
The Cardinals had high hopes for Adam Wainwright coming into the 2009 campaign, and he exceeded expectations. The hero of the 2006 World Championship team had shown his promise as a starter in 2007 but pitched only 132 innings in 2008 due to injury. He stayed healthy all year in 2009 and pitched 233 innings, most for a Cardinal since Chris Carpenter’s 241 2/3 in 2005 and only the second time since 1989 that a Cardinal had tossed that many. In doing so, he proved himself to be not only the Cardinals’ top pitcher by one of the best in the league, finishing third in the NL Cy Young vote … His curveball was the sixth-best in the league, at 2.71 runs above average (per 100 pitches) … Won his first Gold Glove in 2009 … At 6′ 7", is tallest member of the team … Led team with 3.36 xFIP … Was second in NL in pitching runs created (126) and fourth in strikeouts (212) … Blogs at http://e-fellowship-dailybread.blogspot.com.
